Britney Spears' legal woes reached a peak of intensity as her closest confidant was cross examined by her ex husband's lawyer.Sam Lutfi - the mysterious agent who been Spears' constant companion in recent months - was deposed yesterday by Mark Vincent Kaplan, who represents Kevin Federline.

Legal sources told U.S. website TMZ.com that Lutfi was "grilled like a cheeseburger" about his relationship with Spears.utfi's testimony will be critical when the Spears-Federline custody hearing goes to trial in April to determine who has guardianship of the ex couple's two young boys.
Lutfi, a self styled businessman who hails from Eastern Europe and has been linked as a paparazzi 'go-between', knows her innermost secrets having been by her side for several months.

He will be obliged to give evidence about her suitablity as a mother - and her notorious hard partying.Despite her legal problems, Spears' romantic life continues to move at lightning pace.The singer - dating British photogapher Adnan Ghalib - revealed a mystery sparkler on a drive around Los Angeles on Thursday morning.

It is the latest twist in her roller coaster saga with Birmingham-raised Adnan, 35, who claimed on U.S. television that Britney wants to marry him and have his baby.
Adnan gave two interviews to TV shows The Insider and Entertainment Tonight in which he answered accusations he has tried to cash in on their romance.On Wednesday night he told the show that Britney wants to marry him and have his baby.

Adnan spoke for the first time about the photographs of Britney picking up a pregnancy test which first sparked frenzied speculation that the Toxic singer could be expecting.He revealed: "I think she was hoping she was pregnant with my child. I think she felt that she was. She has a very maternal instinct.”

The engagement rumours come after Spears displayed yet more bizarre behaviour.
On Wednesday afternoon, she arrived in a cocktail dress at LA's Superior Court to request more access to her children. But as has been customary in recent times, she left before the hearing even began.

In a separate legal development, Spears' former bodyguard has also given a depostion against her.Tony Barretto visited lawyer Gloria Allred's office on Wednesday to give two hours of testimony, America's In Touch Weekly magazine reported."We discussed several issues, including Britney's drug use, her nudity and her ability to drive with her children," Allred told the publication.
