THE Los Angeles Dept. of Animal Services is finally paying attention to the plight of pets who have the misfortune to be purchased by Paris Hilton.
The celebutard brought the authorities down on herself when she appeared Wednesday on Ellen DeGeneres' TV show and confessed she had 17 dogs. The ex-con obviously didn't know it's illegal in LA to own more than three dogs unless you're a licensed breeder.
The animal control squad paid a visit the next day to Hilton's house in Beverly Hills. But when they arrived, they found the house vacant and undergoing renovations. All the dogs, cats, birds, ferrets and even a monkey had been placed with "handlers at a ranch" - possibly permanently, said SPCA spokesman Jeff Blodgett, who added that they gave Hilton a card, asking her to get in touch. (Paris has a history of de-acquisitioning her pets).
Earlier this week, the Kris Kelly Foundation repo'ed a cat they let Hilton adopt last year because she never returned to pick up the feline after she had been spayed.
Hilton was also accused of neglect in a thinly veiled blind item this week. Ted Casablanca reported on Eonline.com about a woman who, "upon leaving her house, often locks these pups in one of her many closets, supposedly to prevent them from making messies."
But sometimes the woman "would be gone for hours, days, weeks . . . The animal's existence would simply slip from her mind! Oh, doesn't that happen to everybody? While cleaning the house, [her] staff have - reportedly more than once - opened a closet to discover a tiny, dead dog."
Two years ago, Hilton's pet Kinkajou, Baby Luv, bit the heiress, and her first chihuahua, Tinkerbell, now lives with her mother, Kathy.
Last year, Shelby Segall, whose yard borders Hilton's, told Page Six: "She treats her animals horribly. They are always getting out and running around the neighborhood.
"She had a little orange kitty about a year ago that kept getting out and we kept telling her it was outside. She didn't seem like she cared, and then one day the cat got run over in the middle of the street and died."
Another neighbor said, "I found two little chihuahuas of hers running up and down the street with cars and people going up and down. I put them in my bathroom and called Paris. Her assistant answered and said, 'You can't drop them off! Miss Hilton isn't home!' She took three hours to come get them."

Pamela Anderson stripped last night for two sold out performances at the Crazy Horse in Paris. The crowd of over 500 fans paid $300 a pop to get in. Sadly all journalists and photographers were banned. (Sorry, guys!) Pam came on stage in a sheer black body stocking and did her stage bow on the back of a motorcycle. Her performance was an homage to '50s sex icon Brigitte Bardot who sent Pamela flowers and wished her well. People reports:

Socialite Paris Hilton is determined to give her dogs the same luxurious lifestyle she enjoys herself - so she has built them a miniature version of her Los Angeles mansion.
The 26-year-old heiress had a second home constructed in her garden and filled it with matching furnishings to the main house - so her pack of pampered pooches would feel comfortable.
The Simple Life Star says, "I have 17 dogs. So I built a doggie mansion in my backyard. It's a replica of my house with a chandelier and the same furniture.
They all live there".
Meanwhile her boast has landed her at the centre of a new Los Angeles Department of Animal Services investigation, after the heiress boasted about owning 17 pets on a TV show.
The socialite told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres all about the extent of her pooch collection on the comedienne's show on Monday (11Feb08) - not realising it's illegal to have more than three dogs at any one non-kennel, non-breeder,residential address in Los Angeles.
Animal Services sources tell tmz that bosses of an animal rescue organisation took heed of Hilton's dog boast and complained to the officials, who paid her a visit on Tuesday (12Feb08).
The website reports Animal Services representatives turned up at Hilton's home, but Paris and her dogs were not there. They left a message with a maid and now plan to return to conduct a full inspection.
Troubles galore for Paris
Paris Hilton has been accused of abandoning her cat and now she has been told she can’t have the feeline back. The millionaire heiress adopted the feline from California’s Kris Kelly Foundation just a week before she went to jail last May, according to TMZ.com.
But apparently she did not get round to having the cat neutered until January 30 and has not been back to pick it up since.
The charity’s founder, Kris Kelly, reportedly tried to speak to Paris about picking up the animal, named Prada, but has not heard from the socialite yet.
Now, Kelly is refusing to return Prada, saying, “This is a clear-cut case of abandonment.”
Kelly claims she tried to contact Paris several times but none of her calls were returned. Paris, who also has two Chihuahuas, a Rottweiler, ferret, goat, and a kinkajou, recently admitted her staff look after most of her animals. She said, “I only take care of the two Chihuahuas because they live with me. The others are taken care of by a housekeeper.”

A source said, “Paris has a new house right near Robbie’s and he’s spitting mad about it. Robbie sped past her the other day in a chauffeur-driven car and completely ignored her. He hasn’t any time for her and would rather they didn’t have any contact.”
The former Take That star was dealt a further blow when it was revealed Paris is transforming her basement into a nightclub.
The source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “She is in the process of building a disco underneath her mansion so she can keep the parties going long after the clubs shut. If the late-nights start disturbing Robbie he will be absolutely furious.”

Spears is currently under the watchful eye of her father Jamie, who has taken charge of his daughter's estate and affairs since she was committed to hospital. Both he and Spears' mother Lynn, are said to be upset their daughter was released from hospital after her lawyers overruled doctors' advice. In a joint statement the pair said: "We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk." Both parents, who are divorced, are also said to be upset by Britney's relationship with Birmingham-born photographer Adnan Ghalib
Britney's hospital stay is the latest incident in a series of very public meltdowns for the star. Earlier this year the Toxic star was photographed being bundled into an ambulance after refusing to hand over her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline. The incident resulted in a hospital stay - and the loss of custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden. Since then, Britney's parents have staged an intervention in an attempt to help their daughter regain control of her life. A restraining order against her former manager Sam Lufti is in place, alleging that he drugged the star and took over her finances. Britney is said to be desperate to regain control of her estate and finances and is seeking to have a court order granting her father conservatorship overturned. She is battling to regain custody of her two sons with ex Kevin Federline.
