Madonna Named Richest Woman in Music

Madonna is not only the queen of pop, she is also the queen of cash after being named the highest earning woman in music by Forbes Magazine.Forty-nine-year-old Madonna has topped the first ever Forbes magazine Cash Queens of Music list after earning $72 million in one year, between June 2006 and June 2007.The majority of her earnings last year came from her 'Confessions' tour, which cashed in $260 million worldwide.Record sales and her deal with fashion retailer H&M also added to Madonna's fortune along with the payment she received from broadcasters NBC for rights to air her Wembley Stadium performance.The second highest earner on the list was also the oldest - Barbra Streisand.
The 65-year-old raked in $60 million last year - likely to have been fuelled by her comeback tour, which was her first since announcing her retirement in 2000.Coming in third was Canadian singer Celine Dion who earned $45 million, thanks to her massively successful A New Day concert series at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.The long-running show, which opened in 2003 was seen by an estimated three million fans before closing in December 2007.Colombian singer Shakira, who enjoyed massive success with her album 'Oral Fixation Volume 2' and single Hips Don't Lie last year, was fourth on the list earning $38 million.
She was followed by R&B diva Beyonce who earned $27 million.Troubled pop star Britney Spears was a surprise entry coming in at number 14 on the list after barely touring and being seen lip-synching at gigs last spring.
Spears still managed to earn $8 million from her old hits and sales of her perfume, Curious, which netted $55.4 million in 2006.In compiling the list, Forbes examined concert grosses, merchandising revenue, album sales and additional revenue from other businesses, including fragrance deals and endorsements.Only "active" artists were considered - those who had released an album or film or toured during the specified period, Forbes said.

Hogan Knows Best: Linda Hogan Accuses Husband of "Legal Shenanigans"

Late last year, Hogan Knows Best star and pro wrestler Hulk Hogan expressed his hopes for the new year, saying that he is praying the troubles he and has family have encountered will “work out.” However, it seems Hogan will have to wait a little longer for his wish to materialize.

Last week, Hogan's wife and Hogan Knows Best costar Linda Hogan, who filed for divorce in November, accused the 54-year-old reality star of “legal shenanigans,” including trying to trick her into signing a post-nuptial agreement and hiding millions that were acquired through a real estate transaction.

A motion filed by her attorneys last Wednesday states Linda's request for a judge to step in and hinder Hulk Hogan from using any money from the real estate sale, as well as to freeze her future ex-husband.

The motion, which spans seven pages, also has Bollea claiming that a “marital residence in Florida” was sold for around $10 million in August, the same month their son and Hogan Knows Best costar, Nick Hogan, was involved in a terrible car crash that left a friend in critical condition.
Real estate records show that the family's home in Miami had indeed been sold in August, but that the price that had been listed in public documents was $17 million.

Linda went on to explain in the motion that her husband introduced her to lawyer Les Barnett a month following the sale of the house. Hogan apparently made it appear that Barnett would represent them jointly regarding estate planning, but as it turned out, had enlisted the help of the lawyer in drafting a post-nuptial agreement that they wanted her to sign.

She said that the conversations led her to unknowingly give Hogan and Barnett “confidential information” that can be used against her in divorce proceedings.

The motion further states that it was because of these “legal shenanigans” that prompted Linda to file for divorce, and to remove $1.5 million dollars from their accounts due to his “suspicious” behavior. There's also concern over money that Hogan reportedly withdrew and placed into a limited liability corporation that neither Hogan nor Linda could access. Only a third-party general partner had control over the money, and that person turned out to be Eric Bishoff, Hogan's old business partner.

Linda and her lawyers have accused Hulk Hogan of not providing documents detailing his financial activity. Such documents are required in all divorce proceedings.

"There has been complete lack of candor on the husband's side of this case," the motion states. "The wife fears that unless the husband is enjoined in any matter from further dissipating, secreting or otherwise disposing of the proceeds from the sale of the Miami house, the husband will continue to spend in secret the proceeds received from the aforesaid amounts.”

Paris Hilton's much criticised singing abilities have been defended by the stars of her new movie.The socialite launched a short-lived singing career in 2006 to much derision, but has exercised her vocal chords again in new musical, Repo! The Genetic Opera.Her co-star R&B singer Keyshia Cole insists, apparently with a straight face, that she is a fan of Hilton's voice, saying, “I like the way she sings. I do.”Tre Armstrong, the film's choreographer, adds to OK! Magazine, “I was surprised that she could sing.“Honest to God, I will never crack on Paris. I haven’t. From what I hear from what they did, I like how she sounded.”

Twin Surprise

If reports are to be believed, then it will soon be double joy for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, for the actress is said to be expecting twins.According to America’s Star magazine, Jolie recently discovered that she is pregnant with twins. The 32-year-old star discovered that she is eating for three over the past week, a source very close to the Lara Croft actress told Star.And the couple is over the moon with the news. “Brad and Angelina are absolutely ecstatic,” the source said.

The two extra kids will bring the Jolie-Pitt family up to six children, all aged under seven. They have three adopted children and Shiloh, their daughter, who was born in May 2006.Rumours that Jolie was pregnant started swirling after she appeared looking considerably healthier at the Critics’ Choice Awards on January 7. Onlookers say while partner Brad drank beer, and others at their table downed champagne, Ange stuck to water.

Star also reports that the Oscar winner has cancelled a long-scheduled trip to Europe when she found out about her pregnancy. However, another source close to the star couple told the magazine that the couple is determined to complete their ‘football family’. “But I still think there will be more adoptions to come,” the source said.
Angelina’s representative refused to confirm the pregnancy reports, saying, “I am not commenting on unsubstantiated rumours.”

Jolie has previously spoken of her desire to expand her brood, saying, “Brad and I would like to have more kids. I’ve always wanted a big family. And Brad’s the same. We are enjoying the children together. They are such big personalities, and it’s so exciting to watch them grow up.”
